Lively Home Care didn’t start in a boardroom. It started at a kitchen table, with a legal pad full of phone numbers, and a mounting sense of how is this so hard?

My mom is aging, and like so many families, mine recently found ourselves standing at that crossroads; trying to figure out how to keep her safe, comfortable, and cared for at home. I thought I knew what I was getting into. I didn’t. I spent hours on hold. I compared services I didn’t fully understand, tried to decode what “personal care” versus “skilled care” even meant, and wondered whether the people showing up at her door would treat her like a person or like a task on a checklist.

Somewhere in the middle of all that searching, something shifted. This wasn’t just my family’s problem. It’s a problem so many families are quietly carrying—often while working full-time jobs, raising kids of their own, and trying to hold everything together with very little guidance. The need for real, compassionate home care isn’t rare. It’s everywhere. It’s just rarely talked about until you’re living it.

That’s the moment Lively Home Care was born – not from a business plan, but from a promise. A promise that no other family should have to feel as lost and overwhelmed as mine did. A promise that finding trustworthy, warm, skilled care for someone you love shouldn’t feel like a second job on top of everything else you’re already carrying.

We built Lively to be what I was searching for during those long nights of research and worry: care that shows up not just with the right skills, but with the right heart. Caregivers who see your loved one as a whole person; their stories, their preferences, their dignity – not a room number or a shift to complete.

My family’s search isn’t even finished yet. We’re still in it, right alongside so many of you. And honestly, that’s exactly why this work matters so much to us. Every family we support, we support the way we hope someone is helping care for my mom, too.
